Gemma Riggs is a London based artist whose work explores ideas of fragmentation in relation phenomenological experience and memory.

Investigating notions of circling, repetition, iteration and removal of subject, she employs editing and redaction to produce new narratives and phenomenologies of experience.

Working often with lens-based media, and more recently with sound; time and duration are often central aspects of her work.

Gemma studied Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art and is now completing her MA in Fine Art at UCA Canterbury.

In 2012/2013 Gemma participated in the European-wide creative mobility programme, E-Motional Bodies and Cities, to undertake interdisciplinary research with visual artists and performers. This involved collaborative residencies in Riga, London and Bucharest.

She has a background in producing video and image within theatre and live performance with artists and companies including Battersea Arts Centre, Barbican, Southbank Centre, Fuel and Melanie Wilson. More information on Gemma's film production work can be found here: www.gemmariggsfilm.co.uk.
